Best Riches To Have

Bishop Joseph Mukiira
Proverbs 10: 22
‘The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.’’
The Bible says that if want to be rich, don’t struggle with yourself or with fellow men, ask for it from God. God is the best and original Giver in this world, He is the author of giving in the He gave His only begotten Son to save the world, John 3:16. ‘‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.’’ This is evidence enough telling us that everything connected with God’s gifts is a sure source of gladness and not sadness. Sometime we wonder if one can be rich and glad, the answer is yes, because the source of happiness is not the property itself but the Giver of that property. Most brethren forget the order of things; they forget that the Giver intended them to use the properties to glorify Him and not the property of the recipient.
Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day. ’’NKJV)
You know what; some of us might have gone through this verse so many times but have not fully grasped its relevance and weight in the way they should relate God and their property. Much as we are hard working, we should at least acknowledge that we are not exceptionally so, but God played a bigger role in the whole exercise than we give Him credit for. Let’s change this line of thought and start by recognizing that we are not where we are because we are very clever, hard working or otherwise and start giving God glory that is due to Him when He has prospered our ways to whatever level. Remember that there was somebody else who could do what you do better but by God’s favor you were selected for whatever it is that you do. God gives opportunity, ability, knowledge and power to acquire whatever we own and yet we most of the time we are tempted to say’ I’ve succeeded because of hard work, prudence, effort and diligence’’ but this is not true because God says He helps you in order to fulfill a covenant that He make with your ancestors in faith; Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
The Bible again says God respects His word more than any of His Names, therefore because His Word to us that of prospering our ways, we should pray to Him using His promising not that we are reminding Him but we are telling Him why we should be given those blessing, that is not because we deserve them more than everyone else but because He promised.
Genesis 17:4, 6 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. …. Will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.’’ (NKJV). Before we do anything rash about letting our mouths get the better of us lets consider the underlined part of the verse and take time reflect on it first, this is God’s Word to Abraham, and to you by extension, when you believe and receive Jesus Christ’s salvation, you automatically qualify to be a descendant of Abraham and a candidate for the said blessing. Therefore the possessions you have are as a result of that covenant more than your ‘mighty’ efforts and hard work. There are many hard workers in this world and they may never get to your level because they don’t God’s favor as you do.
James 1:16~18 ‘‘Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures’’ (NKJV). We receive everything from God for His own purposes, and all we possess we do so because He has allowed us to posses whatever it is. Let us all go forthwith with thanksgiving in our hearts and praises in our mouths because He has done it for us, when we are happy, we praise Him, when we testify to His goodness we glorify Him for the world to see what a wonderful and caring Father we have. God Bless you all always.
