Hebrews 10:22-25

Bishop Joseph Mukiira
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
The world today is full of uncertainties, this evident from the number of calamities and disasters, both natural and manmade witnessed in the recent past. We are surrounded by and live in adversely unpredictable climatic conditions such as typhoons, cyclones, tornados, unexpected heavy rains, floods, droughts and famines as never witnessed before. Such catastrophes are not limited to weather conditions alone; economic and financial catastrophes have also emerged. These have created economic depression as recently witnessed, whereby the whole world was not spared unwarranted suffering both to the perpetrators and innocent victims, rich and poor alike.
One might be tempted to ask, how does this affect me and my salvation. It is of uttermost import that born again people should understand what is happening around them because they have a spiritual significance. The systems, ways, and the knowledge of this world are challenged beyond its ability to endure because it has an end, a limit.
The born again know that when such occurrences happen, it is their time to draw near to God with true hearts in full assurance of faith. Faith in God is the true shield for the Christians against the collapse of worldly systems. While everybody else run around taking all forms of insurance policies, we stand by our faith in God because His promises are true. It is again of uttermost importance that we be firm in what we believe in.
Economic recovery in the world is experiencing currently is not as a result of prudent, stringent measures or policies of the governments but as a result of unwavering ceaseless prayer from the faithful people of this world. This is a result of powerful unwavering prayer, by people who have washed their conscience clean from all the evil and malice.
As I write this I can sense somebody asking is this possible, the answer is yes. There are people in this current world who have dedicated their lives to prayer to preserve governments of this world, to maintain in power God fearing leaders, they are least remembered people in our world today but yes they are there ceaselessly praying for sustainable peace in the whole world.
Politicians in their double speak will mention peace in passing, I mean just to make political statements to gain political mileage but they have no capacity to know what peace means in any corner of this world. The peace in this world is actually held by those who faithfully intercede with God; through their prayers they break the cosmic powers that take away the peace of this world.
They don’t go through this for their sake but for the love of fellow mankind who are ignorant of the work of the devil in the world, they know that there is only One who can destroy the power, break the grip with which Satan has held this world. Only Jesus can destroy the work of Satan in the world and that is why He actually came. Every calamity, every tribulation and suffering we go through has an element of satanic implications behind them. Though God is aware of these incidents, He sometimes lets them be in order to teach us to depend and put our trust in Him.
It is of uttermost importance that people should continue to meet and pray for one another as this strengthens fellowship of Christ in our midst. God exhorts Himself wherever brethren are meeting in His name, this is our assurance that He will never leave us be. Even when in any form of trouble He says that He is with us to the end of time.
1John 5:3-5
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
God loves those who keep His commandments that He is able and we are not. He can while we can’t; there is no burden in trusting God instead of trusting ourselves. Praying to God with full understanding of our impotence but in recognition that He has all the power in the universe to change whatever He wills. The only way to overcome this domineering world is having faith in God who overcame the world before us, Jesus Christ.
Many times I have heard Christians professing to be more than conquerors in Christ Jesus but when tribulations strike they run to their relatives and friends for help, what happened to that powerful confession? What happened to the loud applause and cheering when that verse is quoted? Does your God’s ability end when trouble knocks at our doors? This should not be the case; those who overcome the world are people of all seasons, through thick and thin they know that their God remains on His throne. The victory that overcomes the world is not our ability to philosophize or rationalize but our faith that our God is able.
Jesus said, “come to all you that are heavy laden and I will give you rest” does this sound more burdensome? Of course not; in fact it is less burdensome to know that you extra baggage is no longer pressing you down. True freedom can only be gotten in believing Christ alone.
Hebrews 10:38
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
We have to be a people who outlive our challenges, problems and tribulations, this ability can not come from the world systems but from our faith, hence this important statement of guarantee that the just shall live by faith. Faith should be on basis of the existence of believe that God outlasts all seasons, circumstances and situations.
Another assurance that Jesus gave His disciples then in John 14:19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also” yes the world might be against you/us in many ways but the knowledge that Jesus is with us should bring us enough comfort and joy to our spirit. We should never aspire to look back because the same displeases God to our detriment. Today I would like to earnestly entreat each one of us to take another step in entrusting our lives in the Lord and taking pleasure in the knowledge that prayer and faith in God can avail much more power and lasting protection than any system of this world.
Our happiness is based on the fact that since our God lives so shall we. There is no insurance in this world that doesn’t have legal clauses that absolve them from the responsibility of such and such occurrences, but with God there no such clauses. All you need is to believe and continue in such believe that even when the situation is overwhelming it shall be well with you. This sounds so simple to be true, right? That’s how simple God is so that we can understand Him.
The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:18 for since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God; it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.
The world with all its philosophy could not know God, but through forsaking of our knowledge we are able to receive the message of salvation of God. Believe, is the catch word of our salvation and faith in the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Master for ever more.
Knowledge that when the foundations of world systems are shaken, it shall be well with the elect of God; who stand in the gap for the sake of the weak and ignorant in their fellowships and communities, based on the love of Christ that transcends all physical boundaries, color, race or believe.
This is the only true assurance that can preserve our sanity in a crazy loveless world which full of confusion, hatred, selfishness, corruption and all manner of evil. I know that much has been said on this subject but I still feel that more needs to be said for the sake of all brethren who need to be encouraged and shown the right direction. You need insurance, think and have faith in Jesus Christ. God bless you as you follow through in this kind of faith.
