The Vanity of Self Trust and Abandoning God’s Righteousness

Lamentations 4: 12-14
The kings of the earth, and all inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the adversary and the enemy could enter the gates of Jerusalem because of the sins of her prophets and the iniquities of her priests, who shed in her midst The blood of the just. They wandered blind in the streets; they have defiled themselves with blood, So that no one would touch their garments, NKJV. Countries world over have designed elaborate national security programs, some call them watertight, financial institutions and corporations take pride in having foolproof security systems. To their amazement they end up being victims of attacks when they least expected and left bleeding so badly, they call it ‘being hit below the belt’ by criminals with or without inside information.
May be somebody might ask oneself, what relevance has the opening paragraph got to being spiritual? It has everything to do with being spiritual, at least not at lay person’s level but to spiritual leaders. Every nation has its fair share of national spiritual advisors, though some administrations de-link themselves from their spiritual leaders and blatantly reject such advice, whereas we know that David, the shepherd boy King ruled prosperously due to his close relationship with men of God. He never did anything before he consulted God and His servants.
At that time men of God sought God in truth and in spirit, today we see a terrifying situation has emerged where many of God’s ‘servants’ cannot see each other face to face, they cannot share a common platform to glorify the same God they claim to serve. With this kind of attitude, spirit and mistrust, nobody can take the church leaders seriously any more. Because if the prophets are fighting against themselves, surely how is the rest of the world expected do? Definitely worse!!
This is what happens when servants of God abdicate their spiritual duties and engage in politics, business ventures, preach the gospel half heartedly, not telling people the truth, how they can have their sins forgiven. This leads them to continue carrying the burden of guilt of sin and when they die in such a state their blood is upon the servants who didn’t guide them accordingly.
According to the book of Ezekiel 3:17-22; “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them warning from Me: When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul. “Again, when a righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul,” NKJV.
It is incumbent upon the servants of God to do the work of shepherding God’s people (flock) Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture, NKJV; God appointed you to keenly guide them in ways of righteousness, God’s righteousness and not self. Unfortunately this not the case, many preachers have ceased preaching the gospel of grace but instead have embarked preaching gospel of works, they preach about giving for prosperity, as far as I know blessing of a sinner is reserved for the righteous. This kind of approach is a mark of apostasy on their part and scripture says that the blood of all they mislead will be required of them.
All nations and governments world over are directly or indirectly dependent on spiritual leadership and guidance whether aware or not aware of it. Security of every nation is not based on its military might or the elaborate security systems they have put in place but in the hands of Almighty God, the connection between such leaders and God is the hands of servants of God in those respective countries. When such servants are not playing their roles as expected, then the enemy will penetrate their defenses and a country is attacked from points never expected.
True servants of God, who are led by the Holy Spirit will understand what I am talking about, many things are happening in our world today in the name of God which are actually an abomination before Him. People continue to mislead their congregations with impunity but God will decide their fate while the rest of the world watches complacently, we need to speak out and be heard.
Apostle Paul said in Galatians 1:6-9; I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different Gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you received, let him be accurse, NKJV. I also know that there isn’t any legal framework to bring such ‘ministers’ to account only God can.
Whenever we see security lapses at national level of nations, we should not be surprised but understand that it is not the mistake of the governments or general citizenry but of their prophets. I wish to state that I have nothing against true servants of God who toil ceaselessly praying and guiding people in truth. I also want to say I have no apologies to make over this devotional to any errant person but I have spoken the situation as it is and as the Word of God directs. I implore all, just for the sake of security of our respective nations and people that servants of God need to change their approach and come back to God for He is full of mercy and He will not only heal but also protect our nations. May God bless you all as you heed this call to spiritually lead your people in the true way of life that is led by the Holy Spirit.
