Waiting for God’s Perfect Time

Habakkuk 1:13
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry”.
Many times we want things to happen sooner than practically possible, however when this is not forthcoming we feel angry, stressed up, frustrated and desperate. This situation, like everything else is well known to our Father in Heaven and that is why He is telling His prophet that the vision He had shown him would be actualized at His own timing, not the timing of the prophet. Through out the Bible, God has given us many promises that we need to follow when there is need to do so. God does all this with our best interests at heart and that we should turn and look up unto Him for our very existence because this gives Him all the glory and honour when depends on His generosity.
God knows all problems and anxieties that engulf us from time to time but He still says that everything He has promised must come to pass at His timing and not our timing. God’s timing is always the best timing for everything. No matter how anxious we become because of the turn our lives seem to taking, we are not in a position to change anything.
Brethren, I would like to urge you that you should put your priorities right in the matters of faith. Faith demands that we wait for God to fulfil His promises to those who are of the seed of Abraham through faith. Even though we don’t evidently see what we hope for in this life but we still continue to wait.
Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
When you dare hope against all odds God respects you for your ability to see what can’t be seen with naked eyes, Abraham was promised a heir without any visible evidence that this was possible owing to his age and that of his wife and yet he believed that it was possible because He who promised is able to bring it to pass. Abraham was able to rise above the obvious limiting circumstances and this pleased God so much that he counted it to him for righteousness.
Genesis 15:6
“And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”
This is a very important attribute to have in our walk with God, we should focus on what He says that He will do for us and leave the issues of how, where and when to Him to sort out. I know that the waiting is the difficult part but still the way we embark on it matters before Him.
The length of the time is purely in God’s domain to determine because He knows what is good for us, we have read in the Bible about all His prophets, Abraham for example waited for twenty five years to see the son of promise; Hannah waited for so long under difficult situation to see Samuel; in fact the list is long; Annah and Nathaniel waited for varied lengths of time to see the messiah e.t.c.
2 Peter 3:8, 9
“But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
God does everything according to His timetable; to succeed in this one ought to understand this fundamental fact about walking with God. God is happy when His children trust Him and wait upon Him. Nobody has ever waited upon God and be ashamed in their lives. Actually He does it for His names sake and not ours, He is able while we are unable, He is faithful and merciful beyond human endurance and so kind that He doesn’t want anybody to be lost but all that come to Him are raised above their collective and individual circumstances only if they wait for His timing. Next time you want to complain about how long you have waited, kindly remember that there were others before you and their patience earned them everlasting blessing from God.
May the peace of God that transcends all boundaries, color, language and all human limitations be upon and overtake now and forever more.
